when's the next time you'll have all of your favorite people in one place?

When's the last time you're going to have all of your favorite people in one place?

I don’t mean to be a total bummer but statistically speaking, probably never. But ya know what, that’s the very thing that makes weddings so incredibly special. It’s essentially once in a life time. That’s why I believe in surrounding yourself with people who help you feel more like you and I deeply believe my job is to fit in that criteria. My biggest intention is to cultivate trust + connection with the couples I work with and simply document their wedding day from the perspective of an insider. I want to feel a part of the day with you both. I want to blur the lines between being another vendor and you just being another client. We’re all so much more than that and I believe your wedding photography experience should reflect that.

I'll help you

While my style is primarily focused on documenting the candid and unexpected moments, I still believe in the idea of having a plan. Because of that, I’m here to help couples discover what it is they’re wanting out of their experience and then create a plan to have that. I help every couple with their timeline, taking into consideration how they want to experience their wedding day as well as make sure the things that are most important to them are noted and well documented. Then when the day comes, it’s time to let go and let it be perfect as it is.

documentary wedding photography for the
real ones who value love and connection
over performance + perfection

After photographing over 200 couples over the past 8 years, one thing I’ve learned is that most people just want to enjoy their wedding day without the fuss of all of the cliches that come with weddings. A few years ago, my style drastically shifted as I became to become much more interested in the moments that were unplanned and often unexpected. The reality of a wedding day and the people that surrounded these couples became much more beautiful than anything I could ever imagine or assume.

That said, my biggest focus is to walk into a space and document the energy of the day. Becoming a wedding photographer sort of taught me the super power of being able to read the room and in that, be attentive and sensitive to what people need to feel comfortable. And above all of that, I really just want to come and have a shit ton of fun with the people I work with and join in on the celebratory energy a wedding day brings.

Got Questions?

I GOTCHU

HOW DO WE BOOK YOU?

After we’ve connected over video chat or an in person meeting, the next steps are a 30% retainer and a contract! I do not book anyone before first meeting and having a conversation as humans first. If you’re anything like me, I can safely assume you’ll appreciate a good vibe check before jumping in!

YOUR WORK IS DOCUMENTARY. DO YOU STILL DO ANY POSED/ARRANGED PHOTOS?

Of course! You’ll definitely get your photos with grandma, your best friends and even some couples portraits if you’re wanting those. I just don’t impose the need to do these but also realize they’re greatly important to most people.

ARE YOU COMPLETELY HANDS OFF AS A DOCUMENTARY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER?

Yes & No. Lighting and locations play such a big role in the quality of your images and I do my best to guide when needed but also realize when it’s the time to just let something be as it is. I will also give loose (but relative to your needs) direction for couples photos. Always just want to make sure I help you look great but also feel like yourselves! You can read more about my approach on my blog

DO YOU SHOOT FILM?

Yes! In fact, a lot of the work on my website is film.  I absolutely love shooting film. One of the biggest reasons being in the intentionality behind shooting film. It’s slow, requires a level of presence and  anticipation. There’s no looking at the back of the camera to see the images you just created. It’s truly as “in the moment” as I can get while shooting. And I’m a sucker for all the nostalgic vibes film brings.

DO YOU WORK WITH SECOND PHOTOGRAPHERS?

Yes! I have a pool of talented peeps that I’m happy to bring along if we all decide a second shooter is what you need. I’ve always shot some of my favorite wedding days solo and don’t believe every wedding needs a second photographer!

DO YOU TRAVEL FOR WEDDINGS?

Of course! I’ve photographed in 25+ states and 5+ countries!

HOW MANY WEDDINGS DO YOU DO A YEAR?

Not a frequent question, but an important one. As of now, my max is 25 weddings per year. I’m very intentional with the weddings I take on and do my best to make sure I can show to every wedding excited, rested and ready to have a good time.

next  steps

1. Reach Out
Thoughtfully fill out the form on my website and I'll get back to you within 48 hours!
2. We'll meet for a beverage
I'll reach out with some general info and our next move after that will be to meet up at your usual haunt, get to know each other and get a general vibe check and make sure it feels like a good fit! Not local to Nashville? No worries! We can totally do a video call!
3. We'll dive into what you want.
Aside from a good ole vibe check, I really just use our time together to dive into what you both care about. My hope is to work with couples who want their wedding day to be a reflection of their values and my only goal is to create intimacy in such a way that allows me to capture what my couples care about most. We'll also use this time to figure out what you both need from me in terms of services, time, and tangibles such as albums, prints etc.
4. ...and if we work together
I'm more than just a photographer and you're more than just another client to me. We're all so much more than that and in the interest of sharing in some of your most intimate & sacred moments, I go into our relationship with a realness as if I planned to know you both indefinitely. I'll always work to create the space where you both feel like you can do the same.
